1. Stock up on paper goods at home (coupon code in text below)
No kidding just having to make a run for toilet paper in the middle of your busy nursing school schedule is too much. Have you ever heard of Jet.com? I used it before and was amazed at the convenience and cheap costs for name brand items. I’m even giving you a coupon for 15% off of $50 the first three times you use this service & free shipping on orders over $35. The cool thing is that they have all of your name brands that you would buy from local stores and they deliver right to your house within two days. So stock up now on toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, diapers and all of those other essentials that keep you stressed out when you run out of them while trying to study for a med-surg final! Visit: www.Jet.com, select your items and use this coupon code upon check-out: WELCOME15 2. Prepare a few simple make-ahead meals and freeze them. Even if you prepare one meal/week for each week of January, it will save you an amazing amount of time and you will feel better that you are organized. The power of positive thinking goes a long ways towards helping you succeed in nursing school. Imagine coming home from a long day at school or clinical, not having to think about dinner, grabbing a pre-made meal out of the freezer and heating it up in a matter of minutes while you are freed up to spend time with family, study, or actually relaxing. 3. Stock up on breakfast bars to put in your car. I know you – you’re always running late, rushing out of the house without breakfast on your way to drop the kids off and get to clinicals just before the instructor counts you late, or waltzing into the test taking lab right on time without an ounce protein or carbohydrates to fuel your brain. I’m pretty much like you so I stay stocked up on my favorite protein bars – Luna lemon bars and bottled water (because Lord knows I won’t have time to actually pour water into a bottle in the mornings) that I can grab on my way out the door. I’m not saying you need to resort to only eating breakfast bars & drinking bottled water for breakfast but at the very least you will have food items handy to get your fingertips on and stop going hungry! 4. Spend an hour of your holiday relaxation time to set up automatic payment on all of your bills. This will decrease your stress by huge amounts to know that you do not have to worry about forgetting to pay a bill on time and hopefully will prevent overspending as well. It’s easy to set up and even if it’s a bit time consuming the first time – if you take the time to do this, it will be worthwhile for the freedom from worry in your future. 5. Laundry Sorter Purchase a laundry sorter or designate an area for sorting. This sounds like a little thing but it will save hours of time in the long run. Some laundry sorters (easily purchased at Walmart for as little as $10) come with 3 compartments: one for towels, one for lights, one for darks, etc. Laundry sorters have between 2 – 4 compartments and allow you to sort as you throw the items in the basket instead of spending so much time all at once.
